The Tea Party Really is a Distraction
Focusing on the deficit when the lack of jobs is killing our economy and creating the deficit is just wrongheaded. The whole conversation needs to change to jobs jobs jobs. Paul Krugman wrote an excellant editorial on this in today's paper: click here to read it. What should Obama do? He suggests big and bold because whatever he suggests, the Republican won't go along with it as they've shown in the past. Making Obama a one-termer is their chief priority as said even by the republican Senate Minority Leader. Perhaps Obama should be making this a good part of his message: that nothing can be done until we have a democratic majority again. The Republicans had the majority for 10 years and could have changed anything that arguably caused the Bush Recession. It's time to try something different.

Here are the T-party agendas. Wiki laid this out
ReplyDelete1.Identify constitutionality of every new law
2.Reject emissions trading
3.Demand a balanced federal budget
4.Simplify the tax system
5.Audit federal government agencies for waste and constitutionality
6.Limit annual growth in federal spending
7.Repeal the healthcare legislation passed on March 23, 2010
8.Pass an 'All-of-the-Above' Energy Policy
9.Reduce Earmarks
10.Reduce Taxes
The T-party is simply this. If the same people believe other things then that is their privledge. But those are the basic t-party rules.
The last two years of the Bush presidency he had were controlled by the democratic house and Senate. God, Obama has one legislative branch cut off and WOW. Poor Obama he cant always have his way. Yeah everything is the Republicans fault thats why doing things when Obama had the house and the senate the first two years they did nothing but destroy this economy. Look how many rep. were voted into office after people saw how Obama is spending us into oblivian!
ReplyDeleteYou know, this tea party thing is fucking annoying! Ron Paul started the TEA party (Taxed Enough Already) to raise money for one of his 'money bomb' fundraisers. Now it has been co-opted by these ideologue right-wing idiots.
ReplyDeleteNeed $$$? The wars are costing $300,000 per minute. Hmmm... I think there's some money there.
Guess for tomorrow nights "jobs speech": Tax holiday for corporations to bring offshore money back IF they hire.
