I like Ron Paul's plans for military spending and pulling back our troops and bases all over the world but if this libertarian in Republican clothing got elected, what things could he actually get passed. The idea of getting rid of Federal departments (he's against FEMA and just about every Federal department such as education, food & health etc.) may sound good when you're mad at big government but it seems tremendously impractical and invite chaos where we now complain about over-regulation. So what could he pass?
I do understand your point about what getting rid of departments. But, here's something that is mind-blowing: the Department of Homeland Security was formed after 9/11. It is now the third largest department in our government. What the hell, man?!
ReplyDeleteI like Ron Paul because he wants accountability from the government. So much money gets wasted on bullshit projects, hand-outs, and so on... Look at the Federal Reserve.
I am so disappointed in George W Obama that I am seriously libertarian now. And I do understand the dichotomy there: I am working as a consultant for a government organization.
Paul would eliminate FEMA, Dept. of Housing, Dept. of Health & Safety...all of them. I'm all for cutting a bunch of stuff but going back to the 19th century on regulations, well it's great if you want arsenic in your burger, worthless drugs and poison in the soil.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the size of Homeland Security includes the agencies it coordinates like the FBI, CIA and others?
ReplyDeleteWho cares? Lucy Napolitano is a frikin nazi. The bigger the government gets, the less power we have. "If you see something, say something." Really? The SS were good at that too.
ReplyDeleteIs this a department that should be continued?

Granted, it's at a state level, but the point is the same.
By the way, I don't know why I'm posting as unknown.

ReplyDeleteThey could just use animal control and corral the rabid little puppies in all the jails freed up from legalizing drugs? I notice that he was justifying the parents' actions due to the growing awareness that vaccination causes autism (which does not have a scientific basis). Well you don't destroy a company or government from one bad action. You boot the person that approved it. Perhaps the Fullerton police were administering vaccinations recently to the homeless...Very bad joke...
